Dear Parents of the Teddy Bear Room (4-year old room). Over the last two centuries, there have been major changes in early childhood education. Children are found to have a more lasting grasp on education, when they are taught in a play based developmentally age appropriate environment. My focus will be the social and emotional aspect of the students. I will make sure each of the students are comfortable and making a connection to the other students in the classroom. Every child will make the transition differently; this might be difficult, at first, for the children that will be their first time in a daycare setting. A fun game that would incorporate some louder sounds, such as a game of musical chairs. This would give them a chance to use their gross motor skills by moving, also involving loud music in their day. Instruments would be utilized for some extra fun! I believe that math is a skill that will be learned in many areas in a classroom setting. A fun math lesson would be on that is called “Counting Fun Shapes”. In this lesson, I have a jar filled with many different shapes. The jar is set on a table with small pieces of paper and pencils. As the children arrive in the morning, they will be directed to the jar and instructed to count how many objects are in the jar. There are only 4 objects in the jar, they will write their guess on the paper provided. After much anticipation, we would open the jar and the children separate the objects in shape categories. They will be asked which shapes has more and which shapes have less. Once the discussion is completed we would count each category and derive a total. This will help the children focus on math skills but also listening and following directions. Young children love science, because everything is so new to them and they are so impressed. In the science center, there will be a telescope with different slides to look at and a hanging solar system. We will have a weather map on the wall, where the children can play
