Masonry is basically materials that are made up of brick, stone, marble, granite , traventine, concrete blocks, glass blocks are stacked up one by one together by mortar to make walls. They are also called masonry units. There are different types of masonry walls, they are:

Pretensioning is used with precast concrete members, the first step of pretensioning is to stretch out the steel bars firmly. Then concrete is cast around the stretched steel bar to bond and cure around it. Finally when the strands of the steel bar are cut, the concrete goes int compression and the beam prestressed to handle the under loads.
Posttensioning is always done in the factory and then delivered onto site. The steel bar is bent downward first and concrete is cast around it. The concrete is not allowed to bond to the steel strands during curing. After the concrete has cured, the strands are tensioned with a hydraulic jack and anchored to the ends of the beam. The difference between these three types of concrete construction varies from each project and situation. It depends on the client to make the final decision on which type to use on site after taking into account of all the advise, costing and design of the building. Precast concrete is faster to make and buildings can be erected faster so as to safe time and move on to the next project. But in Malaysia many clients still prefer simple reinforced concrete to erect buildings as its cheaper and more efficient. Prestressed concrete is commonly
