Visit to Taa’if
The Prophet (S.A.W) went to Taa’if to spread Islam with Zayd bin Haarithah but they were both badly treated. The Prophet (S.A.W) visited Taa’if during the 10th year after the first revelation, the same year the Mi’raaj took place. The Prophet (S.A.W) was first taken on the journey of the Israa from the ka’bah to Masjidul Aqsaa in Jerusalem. The Mi’raaj is the journey from the earth to the seven heavens. Salaah was given to the Prophet (S.A.W) on this night- 27 Rajab- as a gift.
From the 11th to the 13th year after the first revelation people came from Madinah to Aqabah and became Muslims. In the 13th year 70 men accepted Islam and promised to defend and support Islam. The Makkans began plotting to kill the Prophet (S.A.W) and Allah commanded the Prophet (S.A.W) to migrate to Madinah.
The night the Prophet (S.A.W) left for Madinah H. Ali (RA) slept in his bed. Abu Bakr accompanied the Prophet (S.A.W) and the Makkans began searching for them for a reward of 100 camels. H. Abu Bakr accompanied the Prophet (S.A.W) on the Hijrah- the journey from Makkah to Madinah- and they stayed in a cave called Thaur. Prophet (S.A.W) and Abu Bakr reached a place called Quba where the Prophet (S.A.W) founded Masjid Quba. They finally reached Madinah on the 12th Rabi ul Awwal and the Muslims of Madinah (Ansaar) were overjoyed giving the Prophet (S.A.W) the highest level of the land.
The Hijrah was
Along with the central location of Mecca, it was also a center of pilgrimage trade. People from other areas of Arabia, often entered Mecca in hopes of visiting the Ka'bah (Document A). The Ka'bah, at the time, was one of the holiest Pagan sites, thus bringing in many people of different religions. While on pilgrimage, people would trade and interact with those who had converted to Islam. In examining Arab trade routes in 570, many would conclude that Islam spread quickly because of the ideas that spread along existing trade
The location of Mecca made it easier to access other areas to spread the word of Allah. It was able to spread through the trade routes that went from Mecca to
Master Fard Muhammad first came into America in 1910, entering through New York City. When he got there, just seeing the condition of His father’s people made him cry. From there he went to California and enrolled in the University of Southern California, and The Honorable Elijah Muhammad tells us that he studied there for 20 years before returning to the Holy City Mecca and changing his name from Wallace Fard to Wali Fard. Master Fard Muhammad then returned to America in 1930, and went to Detroit, Michigan. He began teaching in Black Bottom Detroit, which was a predominantly black area. He could not just go around delivering the message
Mecca was known as a trading city, for its camel caravans that would constantly visit, and an important religious shrine known as the Ka’ba which was economically beneficial since traders would pay to visit it and its other idols. Islam would begin with the teachings of Muhammad: monotheism, support for the weak and the poor, and that Muhammad was allah’s prophet. Muhammad would be unaccepted by the people of Mecca because his teachings threatened their economy and he wanted to eliminate idol worship. Muhammad fled to Medina and began to create a following known as the Ulma and later developed into a political leader. Eventually, Muhammad would return and conquer the city of Mecca, establishing Islam and destroying everything but the Ka’ba.
Muhammad a prophet for our time is written by Karen Armstrong. This book is like a diary that tells the life of Muhammad and how he played a big role in the Islamic religion. Muhammad was born in the year 570 ce and died in 623 ce. Muhammad was a man who did not have much going for him, he couldn’t read and lived in a cave with his wife at the time. When Muhammad was reached down upon by Allah he did not know what was happening and why it was happening. “ he knew that some people expected the imminent arrival of an Arab prophet, but it never occurred to him that he would be the one entrusted with the mission.” (p.10). Muhammad was 40 years old when this happened and he lived in Mecca. Mecca at the time had many different civilizations and was a big trading center. Arabs at the time did not like this and kept moving from places to place to get something stable. Some of the Arabs even had settled in urban areas around Mecca. Society in Mecca was based on laws and traditions that even though Allah is the main god
Following this major change in faith, Muhammad tried to gain a following among the Arab people. This proved unsuccessful at first, so Muhammad and his friends journeyed to the area of Yathrib, which he renamed Medina and established himself as the ruler. The journey of Muhammad is now know as the Hijrah and is used by Muslims to date their
Once one of the wealthiest men in all of Africa made his Hajj to Mecca and gave away over 4 billion dollars. After being released in June 1954, he became minister of the New York Temple No. 7, where he met his future wife, Betty Sanders. For two years Malcolm heard rumors of Elijah Muhammad having illicit affairs with serving girls, fathering illegitimate children, and Nation of Islam ministers living luxurious lifestyles at the expense of the Nation (Crime and Investigation Network 2). These practices were in direct conflict with the Islamic beliefs; therefore, left Malcolm feeling betrayed by Muhammad. On March 14, 1964, Malcolm publicly announced his split with Muhammad and the Nation of Islam. He then formed his own movement, the Muslim Mosque, on March 13, 1964. Many of his friends then urged him to take a Hajj, or a pilgrimage, to Mecca. He took their advice, and traveled there in April, 1964. On his return, he changed his name once again to El- Hajj Malik El- Shabazz.
For five weeks in 1964 Malcolm X completed the Hajj, a mandatory Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca. When he returned from this trip, Malcolm had a different outlook and preached not to just African-Americans but to muslims of all races. It changed Malcolm’s world view and gave him hope for a better future.
Muhammad was born in the year 570 A.D. in the city of Mecca, located now in what is known as Saudi Arabia. His father, Abdullah died before he was born and his mother, Amina passed away when Muhammad was around five or six years old. He was then brought up by his grandfather, ‘Abdul-Muttalib, who treated him with the utmost love. Two years passed before his grandfather also passed away and Muhammad was left in the care of his uncle, Abu Talib and his wife, Fatima. They treated him just as well if not better than their own children. The love they had for the young boy was matched by no one.
In the city of Mecca the leaders' decided to help the well being of the poor by making an organization called "Hilf-al-Fudul" (Hamidullah, par. 13). Muhammad became very involved in this organization in Mecca. The world at this point was very Christian and Muhammad worked closely with many charities to help the poor.
The Muslim prophet, Muhammad, was born in 570 in the city of Mecca. Muhammad lived a normal life just like any Muslim, until he began seeing visions believed to be inspired by Allah. Muhammad believed that since Allah has already revealed himself to Moses and Jesus, it was now his turn to receive the final revelations. After receiving them, Muhammad tried to convince his people that the revelations were true, but most thought he was insane and crazy, or that he would upset the social and political order of society. As a result, Muhammad and some of his followers left to the rival city of Yathrib in 622. Yathrib was later renamed Medina, which meant “city of prophet”, as he began to win support from the residents in Medina and on the surrounding country side. With these people, Muhammad formed the first Muslim community.
For about fifteen hundred years, Saudi Arabia’s history has centered on one major theme: Islam. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, was born around 570 A.D. in the city of Mecca. Early in the 7th century A.D., according to Islamic belief, Muhammad, while meditating in a cave on Mount Hira, was visited by the angel Gabriel. Gabriel
