First and foremost, I would like to thank Allah s.w.t for making things easy for me on doing and completing this assignment. Secondly, I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting and helping me accomplishing my task. Without their support and trust, I could have never been able to accomplish this task brilliantly.
Not forgetting my Business Strategy lecturer, Madam Marini Mohamed Azhari for all the help and guidance she had made. If it’s not for my lecturer, I would have never know how to do this task as good as I think I’ve been. For all the knowledge she had taught and shared, I would like to say thank you and it has been a great pleasure for me to accomplish this task by using the knowledge I’ve gained

Pfizer will have to take on retailers such as Target, Walmart, or Rite Aid, which already have programs in place, offering lower-priced generic drugs to their customers. In 2011, Pfizer will lose the patent for its most widely sold drug, Lipitor, which will have a huge impact on their sales once generic products enter the market.
2- Global pricing pressure: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/8d1a1842-5649-11df-b835-00144feab49a.html#axzz1dt5ys5bp
The increased use of generic drugs as well as the fact that in most countries the government controls the prices of medical products results in Pfizer facing increased pricing pressure. As government agencies have control over Pfizer 's pricing, this could negatively influence their sales and revenue. In addition, the proposed legislation to control prices will most likely affect the company 's business.
3- FDA 's regulatory oversight: http://www.google.com.my/#pq=pharmaceutical+pricing+pressures&hl=en&cp=21&gs_id=96&xhr=t&q=fda 's+regulatory+oversight&pf=p&sclient=psyab&source=hp&pbx=1&oq=fda 's+regulatory+over&aq=0n&aqi=qn1&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&fp=a943ccc3a173c5a3&biw=1280&bih=737
Regulations not only threaten to interfere with Pfizer 's international business, but are also imminent for its business in the United States. With the FDA having increased regulatory power, Pfizer 's costs are
World War I caused suffering, pain, and devastation throughout the world. World War I was from 1914 to 1918. This war had many causes and results which Remarque used to help write his novel, All Quiet on the Western Front. Although many think the causes and results of World War I could never justify any problem, Remarque uses those events to justify the events that happen throughout his novel, All Quiet on the Western Front.

Many countries such as Canada, India, and the UK have price controls. The governments of these countries impose regulations that control the prices of new drugs as well as generics without compromising safety but at the same time they do not burden pharmaceutical companies
I might want to express my appreciation towards my chief Ms. Shaily Dabra for her kind co-operation and support which help me in culmination of this undertaking.
Threats—Very competitive market Viagra already the brand name with a 5 year head start on safety and reliability, Pfizer has the largest sales force, Bayer’s niche ability to address the issues of diabetics, competitors very large R&D budget and Pfizer $108 million advertising budget, increased competition
Prescription drug prices are on the rise in the United States. Currently, the United States does not implement a price control on prescription drugs. Every day the supply and demand for prescription drugs fluctuates. Pharmaceutical companies produce drugs that are necessary for survival. Therefore, it is necessary for research and development to continue in the United States. Those suffering the effects of exorbitant prices must do so until a generic form of a prescription drug is produced. Once approved by the FDA, new drugs will make their appearance on the market and patients will no longer suffer financially. Until then, it is necessary for pharmaceutical companies to price their drugs based on the idea of supply and demand. This produces the profit used to fund research. Price controls discourage innovation. If a price control were set in place, of course the price of prescription drugs would decrease. However, the development of new drugs decreases with it. Today’s generation would benefit from lower prices, while future generations would suffer from the loss of drug innovation.
* Monopoly Power. Pharmacists often face questions from patients regarding how prices of medications are determined and why, in some cases, they are so expensive. Unlike markets for other goods, in the pharmaceutical marketplace there are a limited number of manufacturers and the medication being sold are not identical, but rather are differentiated. There is a guarantee via patent protection that no potential competitor may manufacture an identical drug and sell it at a lower price in the short run. As a result, the branded manufacturer is able to make profits. Since there is only one seller, the monopolist determines the price of the medicine. This establishes the monopolist as a price setter, permitting prices above the perfectly competitive price by controlling the quantity of medication produced in the marketplace. This is in stark contrast to being a price taker, and accepting a price established within a perfectly competitive marketplace. The end result is that prices are higher under these market conditions than they would be in a purely competitive marketplace.
Pfizer is the largest American pharmaceutical company and one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. It competes with Merck and Glaxo, and markets such well-known medications as Celebrex and Viagra. However, the pharmaceutical industry as a whole has undergone changes in recent years with significant consolidation taking place and with increased scrutiny regarding the ways in which drugs are developed, tested and marketed. In addition, recent controversies have erupted regarding Merck's drug Vioxx, and Pfizer has been the target of unwanted publicity regarding its painkiller Celebrex. This research considers the strategic position of Pfizer, including its strengths and weaknesses as well
The second rests in Pfizer’s expiring patents on several popular drugs that invite their competitors to enter the market with similarly performing pharmaceuticals. Once these patents expire, Pfizer will either have to extend the patent through reformulating the performance of the drug for another purpose called “ever greening”, or abandon the line in the pursuit of another, more profitable product. Regardless of what they do in terms of their own product offerings, generic imitations of their products will enter the market, diluting the profitability of the drug and forcing reliance on the sales of other existing products to make up the loss.
In this experiment, the group was given two unknown solutions and were told to discover the pH of each solution and if the two unknown solutions could be neutralized. The question they were solving for was; “How do you determine whether two solutions are acids or bases and whether these two solutions will neutralize each other and change their pH level?” The hypothesis the group decided on was; “We predict that if the unknown solutions are acids they will turn the blue litmus paper red and if they are basic, they will turn the red litmus paper blue. We predict that one of the two unknown liquids will be acid and the other will be base, so if the two unknown solutions were put together, they will neutralize each other and have a pH around 7.” There was no other research done on this project.
First of all, I would like to praise ALLAH THE ALL MIGHTHY. His will, I will not be able to complete the assignment.
This project is the final of three reports I will complete as part of the strategic analysis of Pfizer. This report focuses on strategic implementation and includes the following sections. First, the major concepts related to strategy implementation will be defined. Second, those concepts will be applied to the case of Pfizer in order to analyze its corporate governance, organizational structure and strategic leadership. The analysis of Pfizer will be followed by its evaluation to identify the major problem the company is facing and propose a solution. A short conclusion will close the report.
2. Patent related and Generic Competition: The developed countries like US and Europe have strong patent protection laws which gives a lot of benefits for the pharmaceutical companies. But, the patent
Environmental influences, such as diseases and illnesses form the need for pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer. Having such needs may help in strengthening the company. The constant demand for products that the company produces may increase their production rate, also their potential income. As mentioned in the theory of Supply and Demand, there is a relationship between the increase or decrease for a product and the increase and decrease for the supply of the certain good. It also includes the part played by the price.
I take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks and deep gratitude to all those people who extended their whole hearted co-operation and have helped me in completing this project successfully.
