What Planet is Farthest from the Sun?

Answer – Neptune is the farthest planet from the sun.

Explanation:

Neptune is the eighth planet in our solar system that occurs at a great enough distance for it to be invisible to the naked eye. It has an elliptical orbit that results in its average distance of 2.8 billion miles, or 30 astronomical units (AU), making it the farthest planet from the sun.

However, until 2006, Pluto was considered the most distant planet. When it was discovered in 1930, it was found beyond Neptune and hence claimed the position of the furthermost planet at the time. Its average distance from the sun is 3.7 billion miles, or 39 AU.

But over the years, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) made several observations about Pluto and concluded that it no longer satisfied the definition of a planet. Other similar celestial bodies such as Eris were also discovered and warranted another classification known as dwarf planets. Thus, Pluto was demoted to the status of a dwarf planet in 2006, reinstating Neptune as the remotest planet from the sun.
