What Quadrant is the Liver in?

Answer – The right lobe of the liver is in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. The left lobe, however, is in the left upper quadrant.

Explanation:

Theoretically, the abdomen is divided into four regions for medical practitioners to localize and diagnose health conditions.

1. Left upper quadrant: Comprises most of the stomach, the left lobe of the liver, pancreas, left kidney, spleen, some sections of the transverse and descending colon as well as the jejunum and proximal ileum of the small intestine

2. Right upper quadrant: Includes a small part of the stomach, the right lobe of the liver, gallbladder, right kidney, sections of the ascending and transverse colon, and the beginning part of the duodenum of the small intestine

3. Left lower quadrant: Comprises most of the small intestine, parts of the large intestine, the left ureter, and the left reproductive organs (left ovary and left fallopian tube in females and left sperm duct in males)

4. Right lower quadrant: Includes the appendix, cecum, a small part of the small intestine, and the right reproductive organs (right ovary and the right fallopian tube in females and right sperm duct in males)
