Which Structure Suspends the Testes Outside the Male Body?

Answer – The testes are suspended outside the male body within a sac-like structure called the scrotum.

Explanation:

A part of the male reproductive system, the scrotum is a bag of skin that hangs between the legs and below the penis in male humans. Its primary function is to hold and safeguard the testes, the organs responsible for producing sperm.

It is split into two equal sections, with each part containing one testis, one of the tubular ducts where sperm is stored, and one spermatic cord. A ridge called the raphe (which appears as a line on the scrotum) separates the sections externally, while a muscular septum splits them internally.

The scrotum occurs outside the body to ensure an optimum temperature for semen production (about 2–3°C lower than the body temperature). Scrotal tissues further assist in the protection of the testes and its related blood vessels.
