Serafín Estébanez Calderón (1799–1867)

Calderón, Don Serafín Estébanez (käl-dā-rōn’). A Spanish professor and collector of ballads. He wrote a volume of ‘Poems’ (1833); a novel, ‘Christians and Moriscos’ (1838); and a very valuable study of ‘The Literature of the Moriscos.’ He also wrote ‘The Conquest and the Loss of Portugal,’ and a charming volume of ‘Andalusian Scenes.’.
