Joseph Caldwell (1773–1835)

Caldwell, Joseph (kâld’wel). An American divine and educator; born at Lamington, NJ, April 21, 1773; died at Chapel Hill, NC, Jan. 27, 1835. He was president of the University of North Carolina (1804). He wrote: ‘Letters of Carleton,’ etc.
