Henry Raymond Casgrain (1831–1904)
Casgrain, Abbé Henry Raymond (kä-gra
‘). A Canadian historical writer; born in Rivière Quelle, Quebec, Dec. 16, 1831; died in 1904. Oct. 5, 1856, he was ordained a priest. He was professor at Ste. Anne’s College, until 1859, and afterward vicar at Quebec Cathedral from 1860 till 1873. Among his most important works are: ‘History of the Hôtel Dieu de Quebec’; ‘My Canadian Parish in the Seventeenth Century.’ A collection of his entire works was published in 1886.
