Benvenuto Cellini (1500–1571)

Cellini, Benvenuto (chel-lē’nē). An Italian sculptor, metal-worker, and writer of memoirs; born in Florence, Nov. 3, 1500; died there, Feb. 13, 1571. His extraordinary adventures (as set forth in the racy style of his ‘Autobiography’) gives the fascinating story of his life an important place in letters.
