|Clairville, Louis François Nicolaie (klār-vēl'). A French writer of light comedy (181179); born at Lyons. Author of more than 220 comedies, farces, and comic-opera libretti. Among his most successful operettas are: Daphnis and Chloe (1849); Mme. Angots Daughter (1873); among his vaudevilles: Property is Robbery (1848); Antoinettes Temptations (1850); Cinderella (1866).|
