Marie Friederike Auguste Amalie (1794–1870)

Amalie, Marie Friederike Auguste (ä-mä’lē-e). A German dramatist (1794–1870), who wrote under the pseudonym “Amalie Heiter.” She was Duchess of Saxony, sister of King John of Saxony. Among her comedies and dramas are: ‘The Uncle’; ‘The Prince’s Fiancée’; ‘Primogeniture’; ‘The Young Lady from the Country’; and ‘The Agriculturist.’
