Sarah Doudney (1843–1926)
Doudney, Sarah. An English writer of fiction; born near Portsmouth, England, in 1843; died in 1926. Her poem ‘The Lesson of the Water Mill’ is a familiar favorite. Her prose works, over forty in number, include: ‘Under Grey Walls’ (1871); ‘The Pilot’s Daughters’ (1874); ‘Nothing but Leaves’ (1882); ‘Under False Colours’; ‘Silent Strings.’
