John Dunlop (1755–1820)

Dunlop, John. A Scottish song-writer; born in Carmyle, Lanarkshire (?), Nov. 1755; died at Port Glasgow, Sept. 4, 1820. Convivial and prosperous, those qualities are reflected in his ‘Oh, Dinna Ask Me Gin I Lo’e Ye’ and similar lines, all sung with enthusiasm by Scots.
