Samuel Eliot (1821–1898)

Eliot, Samuel. An American author and teacher; born at Boston, Dec. 22, 1821; died at Beverly, MA, Sept. 14, 1898. He was professor of political science and constitutional law in Trinity College, Hartford, CT. Among his publications are: ‘Passages from the History of Liberty’ (1847); ‘The Liberty of Rome’ (2 vols., 1849); ‘Manual of United States History between the Years 1792 and 1850’ (1856); and ‘Stories from the Arabian Nights’ (1879).
