Richard Theodore Ely (1854–1943)

Ely, Richard Theodore. An American political economist; born in Ripley, NY, April 13, 1854; died in 1943. He graduated at Columbia, and afterward studied at Heidelberg. After 1892 he was professor of political economy at Wisconsin University. He published: ‘French and German Socialism in Modern Times’; ‘The Past and Present of Political Economy’; ‘Taxation in American States and Cities’; ‘Problems of To-day’; ‘Political Economy’; ‘Social Aspects of Christianity’; ‘Outlines of Economies’; and others.
