José Joaquín Fernández-Lizardi (1776–1827)

Fernández-Lizardi, José Joaquín (fer-nän’deth lēthär’dē). A distinguished Mexican novelist; born in the City of Mexico, in 1776; died there, June 1827. His most famous work is ‘Periquillo Sarniento’ (1816). He also published two novels, ‘Sad Nights and Gala Days’ (1823) and ‘Life and Exploits of the Famous Knight Don Catrin de la Facheuda’ (1832).
