Aneirin (fl. Sixth Century)

Aneurin. A famous Welsh bard of the sixth century. Of his epic and songs we possess the ‘Godolin,’ in a MS. of the thirteenth century. The poem as it has come down to us contains nearly 1,000 lines and gives an obscure account of the defeat of the Britons by the Saxons at Cattraeth. (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
