Paul Fleming (1609–1640)

Fleming, Paul (flem’ing). A German poet; born at Hartenstein in Saxony, Oct. 5, 1609; died at Hamburg, April 2, 1640. As an attaché of an embassy to Russia and Persia, he had an opportunity (1635–39) of studying many peoples. His ‘German Poems,’ which appeared in 1642, were often republished.
