Pietro Giordani (1774–1848)

Giordani, Pietro (Jôr-dä’nē). An Italian essayist, controversialist, and critic; born in Piacenza, Jan. 1, 1774; died at Parma, Sept. 14, 1848. His productions are mainly essays and criticisms on art and literature, which keep their place in letters by their style. His ‘Letters,’ ‘Select Prose,’ and ‘Orations and Eulogies,’ show his style at its best.
