Stephen Gosson (1554–1624)

Gosson, Stephen. An English poet and satirist; born in Kent (?), 1554; died at Bishopsgate, Feb. 13, 1623 or 1624. He was a clergyman. The ‘Schoole of Abuse’ (1579) contains good prose; ‘Playes Confuted in Five Actions’ (1582) is a puritan attack on the stage.
