Asa Greene (1789–1838)

Greene, Asa. An American author; born in Ashburnham, MA, 1789; died in New York City, 1838. He was a bookseller of the old-fashioned kind, and noted as a humorist. He served for some time as editor of the New York Evening Transcript. His publications include: ‘Adventures of Dr. Dodimus Duckworth, A. N. Q.’; to which is added the ‘History of a Steam Doctor’ (1833); and ‘Debtor’s Prison’ (1837).
