Benjamin Hathaway (b. 1822)

Hathaway, Benjamin. An American writer of verse; born in Cayuga County, NY, 1822. He wrote poems with chalk on barrel heads while working as a cooper, and was for thirty years a nurseryman and farmer. He wrote: ‘Art Life, and Other Poems’ (1877); ‘League of the Iroquois’ (1881); ‘The Finished Creation.’
