Frederic Henry Hedge (1805–1890)
Hedge, Frederick Henry. A distinguished American scholar and Unitarian divine; born at Cambridge, MA, Dec. 12, 1805; died there, Aug. 21, 1890. He edited the Christian Examiner (1857–60), and was professor of German at Harvard University (1872–81). Among his writings are: ‘Prose Writers of Germany’ (1848); ‘Reason in Religion’ (1865); ‘The Primeval World of Hebrew Tradition’ (1870); ‘Martin Luther and Other Essays’ (1888).
