Heinrich von Veldeke (c. 1140–50–c. 1190)

Heinrich von Veldecke (hīn’riċh fon vel’de-kė). A German poet of the twelfth century. He celebrated in verse the jousts and tournaments of his day. His love songs are among the most exquisite that have survived from that period. His epic of ‘Eneit’ is modeled after the ‘Roman d’Enéas,’ erroneously attributed to Benoît de St. Maure.
