Hopkins, Alphonso Alva. An American educator, lecturer, journalist, and miscellaneous writer; born in Burlington Flats, NY, March 27, 1843; died in 1918. He wrote in verse: ‘Asleep in the Sanctum’; ‘Geraldine,’ a metrical romance modeled after ‘Lucile’; the novels, ‘His Prison Bars’ (1874); ‘Sinner and Saint’ (1881); ‘Life of General Clinton Fisk’ (1888); ‘Wealth and Waste’ (1896); ‘Ballads of Brotherhood’ (1900); ‘The Bugle of the Right’ (1913).
