Martha Stone Hubbell (1814–1856)

Hubbell, Mrs. Martha (Stone). An American novelist and writer for the young; born at Oxford, CT, 1814; died at North Stonington, CT, 1856. Besides a number of Sunday-school books, she wrote: ‘The Shady Side, or Life in a Country Parsonage’ (1853), one of the most widely sold books of its day.
