Martha Joanna Lamb (1829–1893)

Lamb, Martha Joanna Reade (Nash). An American historian; born in Plainfield, MA, Aug. 13, 1829; died in New York City, Jan. 2, 1893. The best known of her works is the ‘History of the City of New York’ (2 vols., 1877–81). She also wrote ‘The Homes of America’ (1879); ‘Wall Street in History’ (1883).
