John Bachman (1790–1874)

Bachman, John (bak’man). An American clergyman and naturalist; born in Dutchess County, NY, Feb. 4, 1790; died at Charleston, SC, Feb. 25, 1874. He was associated with Audubon in the ‘Quadrupeds of North America,’ writing the principal part of the work, which Audubon and his sons illustrated.
