George Long (1800–1879)

Long, George. An English classical scholar; born at Poulton, Lancashire, 1800; died in 1879. He was distinguished for his knowledge of Latin and Greek literature. He published an admirable translation of ‘Thoughts of the Emperor M. Aurelius Antoninus’ (1862–79) and ‘Discourses of Epictetus’ (1877).
