Hugo Lubliner (1846–1911)

Lubliner, Hugo (löb’lin-er). A German dramatist; born at Breslau, April 22, 1846; died in 1911. His three-act comedy ‘The Women’s Advocate’ (1873) was produced on every stage in Germany. Of inferior merit are his: ‘The Florentines,’ a tragedy; the comedies: ‘The Woman Without a Mind’; ‘On the Wedding Journey’; ‘The Poor Rich.’ He wrote two novels, ‘Creditors of Luck’ and ‘The Matron of Nineteen Years’ (1887); and the dramas, ‘The Fifth Wheel’ and ‘Dear Enemies.’
