|Mason, William. An English divine and poet; born at Hull, Feb. 12, 1724; died at York, April 7, 1797. He was the friend, executor, and biographer of the poet Gray, and precentor and canon of York. He wrote: Elfrida (1752), and Caractacus (1759), two dramas; The English Garden (177282), a poem; Memoirs of Gray (1775); etc.|
