|Meynell, Alice (Thompson) (mā'nel). An English poet and essayist; born in London; died in 1922. She spent much of her childhood in Italy, and married (1877) Wilfrid Meynell, editor of Merry England. She wrote in verse Preludes (1875; 2d ed. 1893), illustrated by her sister Lady (Elizabeth) Butler; in prose Rhythm of Life (1893); John Ruskin (1900); Ceres Runaway (1910); Collected Poems (1913).|
