Adolph Francis Alphonse Bandelier (1840–1914)

Bandelier, Adolph Francis Alphonse (ban-de-lēr’). A Swiss-American archæologist; born at Bern, Switzerland, Aug. 6, 1840; died in 1914. In the employ of the Archæological Institute of America, he was engaged in explorations in New Mexico, Arizona, Mexico, and Central and South America. He wrote: ‘The Art of War and Mode of Warfare’ (1877); ‘Archæological Tour in Mexico’ (1885); etc.; and ‘The Delight Makers,’ a novel of Pueblo Indian life.
