Monte y Tejada, Antonio del (del-mōn’te ē te-hä’dä). A Dominican historian; born in Santiago de los Caballeros, Santo Domingo, in 1783; died in 1861. He is the author of ‘Historia de Santo Domingo’ (3 vols.), a history of the island from its discovery.
