Henry Cruse Murphy (1810–1882)

Murphy, Henry Cruse. An American journalist and historical writer; born at Brooklyn, NY, 1810; died in 1882. He was a lawyer by profession; was minister to The Hague, 1857–61. He wrote: ‘Henry Hudson in Holland’ (1859); ‘Anthology of the New Netherlands’ (1865), consisting of translations and memoirs; ‘The Voyage of Verrazzano’ (1875); etc.
