Francisco Manuel do Nascimento (1734–1819)

Nascimento, Francisco Manuel do (näs-chē-men’tō) [“Filinto Elysio”]. A Portuguese poet; born in Lisbon, 1734; died in 1819. He won a prominent place in his country’s literature with a version of La Fontaine’s fables, but it is to his ‘Odes’ and other poems that he owes his greatest eminence.
