Newman, Francis William. An English historian and theological writer, brother of John Henry; born in London, June 27, 1805; died at Weston-Super Mare, Oct. 4, 1897. He wrote many important works, including: ‘History of the Hebrew Monarchy’ (1847); ‘The Soul: Its Sorrows and Aspirations’ (1849); ‘Phases of Faith’ (1850); ‘Lectures on Ancient and Modern History’ (1851); ‘Crimes of the House of Hapsburg’ (1853); etc.
