Edward Pococke (1604–1691)

Pococke, Edward. An English Orientalist; born at Oxford, 1604; died in 1691. He wrote, or rather edited, with a most learned and elaborate commentary, ‘Specimen of the History of the Arabians’ (1649); and a similar work, ‘Moses’s Gate’ (1655), one of the writings of Maimonides.
