John Poole (1786?–1872)
Poole, John. An English dramatist and humorist; born in England in 1786?; died in London, Feb. 5, 1872. Among his successful dramas and farces were: ‘Paul Pry’ (1825); ‘Deaf as a Post,’ ‘Turning the Tables.’ He wrote novels, essays, and sketches, among these ‘Little Pedlington and the Pedlingtonians’ (1838), attained great popularity.
