Harriet Leonora Vose Bates (1856–1886)

Bates, Mrs. Harriet Leonora (Vose), better known as “Eleanor Putnam.” An American story and sketch-writer, wife of Arlo Bates; born in 1856; died in 1886. She wrote: ‘A Woodland Wooing’; ‘Old Salem’ (1886); with her husband, ‘Prince Vance’; etc.
