Pyrrho (b. c. 360 B.C.)

Pyrrho (pir’rō). A Greek philosopher; born at Elis about 360 B.C., and supposed to have lived to the age of ninety. In his earlier years he accompanied Alexander the Great on his expedition to India. He is usually looked upon as the founder of the older School of Skeptics, doubting the existence of anything like positive knowledge. He left nothing in writing, being known only through the works of others.
