Earl of Roscommon (1633?–1685)

Roscommon, Wentworth Dillon, Earl of. An Irish poet; born in 1633?; died in London, Jan. 17, 1685. He produced among other works: ‘Essays on Translated Verse’ (1684); a blank-verse paraphrase of Horace’s ‘Ars Poetica’ (1680); and a translation of ‘Dies Iræ.’
