George Sale (1697?–1736)

Sale, George. An English lawyer, and student of Arabic and Mohammedan history; born probably in Kent, about 1697; died in London, Nov. 13, 1736. He is most celebrated as the translator of the Koran, his version of which is still a standard; his introduction is particularly comprehensive, and appreciative of the Mohammedan religion.
