Vida Dutton Scudder (1861–1954)

Scudder, Vida Dutton. An American author and professor of English literature at Wellesley College; born in Southern India, Dec. 15, 1861; died in 1954. She was actively connected with the formation of College Settlements. Among her published works are: ‘The Witness of Denial’ (1896); ‘Social Ideals in English Letters’ (1898); ‘Introduction to the Study of English Literature’ (1901); ‘The Disciple of a Saint’ (1907); ‘Socialism and Character’ (1912); ‘Malory’s Morte D’Arthur’ (1917).
