Anton Friedrich Justus Thibaut (1772–1840)

Thibaut, Anton Friedrich Justus (tē-bō’). A distinguished German legist; born at Hameln, Jan. 4, 1772; died on March 28, 1840, at Heidelberg, where he was professor in the university. His greatest work is ‘System of the Laws in the Pandects’ (1803); some of his other writings are: ‘Juristic Encyclopedy and Methodology’ (1797); ‘Essays on Questions of Civil Law’ (1814).
