Arnold Bennett (1867–1931)

Bennett, [Enoch] Arnold. An English author and journalist; born in North Staffordshire, May 27, 1867; died in 1931. Among his many published works are: ‘A Man from the North’ (1898); ‘Leonora’ (1903); ‘A Great Man’ (1904); ‘Whom God Hath Joined’ (1906); ‘Old Wives’ Tale’ (1908); ‘Clayhanger’ (1910); ‘Hilda Lessways’ (1911); ‘Your United States’ (1912); ‘These Twain.’ The most noteworthy of his plays is ‘Milestones.’ (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
