Karl Töpfer (1792–1871)

Töpfer, Karl (tėp’fer). A German writer of comedies; born at Berlin, Dec. 26, 1792; died at Hamburg, Aug. 22, 1871. Among his comedies are: ‘The Best Tone’; ‘Courting according to Prescription’; ‘Rosenmüller and Finke.’ He wrote also ‘Narratives and Stories’ (2 vols., 1842–44).
