Achille Torelli (1844–1922)

Torelli, Achille (tō-rel’ē). An Italian writer of comedy; born at Naples, May 5, 1844; died in 1922. He wrote at sixteen his first comedy, ‘Who Dieth Lieth.’ Of his others, the most successful were: ‘A Court in the Seventeenth Century’; ‘The Mission of Woman’; ‘Husbands’ (1867); ‘Sad Reality’ (1871); ‘Truth’ (1875); ‘The Color of the Times’ (1875).
